Matt Cardona vs. Nick Aldis NWA World title match set for Crockett Cup

New NWA World Champion Matt Cardona already has his first title defense scheduled as he will face former champion Nick Aldis at March’s Crockett Cup.

The Nashville, Tennessee, pay-per-view will take place over both March 19th and 20th and they didn’t clarify which night it would be on.

In a match that will air on this Tuesday’s NWA Power taped Saturday as part of a NWA Power Trip live event, Cardona defeated Trevor Murdoch for the title.

Aldis will be looking for his third run with the title. Murdoch ended his 1000+ day run at last year’s NWA 73.

The Crockett Cup tournament will feature sixteen teams battling for the Cup, a revived idea from the days of Jim Crockett Promotions that owner William Corgan brought back in 2019.

Aldis and Doug Williams were officially announced for the tournament with Tag Team Champions La Rebelion, The Briscoes and Strictly Business (Thom Latimer and Chris Adonis) mentioned in the initial announcement.

Jeff Jarrett was named an ambassador for the event as well.
