Matt Cardona challenges Nic Nemeth to match in GCW

Matt Cardona has challenged Nic Nemeth to a match in GCW.

Cardona called the former Dolph Ziggler out in a video promo aired during Friday night’s GCW No Compadre event. Cardona noted that he defeated Nemeth to become the United States Champion in their time together in WWE, and stated that he planned to beat Nemeth again at any time, in any place.

Nemeth made his NJPW debut at Wrestle Kingdom 18 in Tokyo Dome on January 4, and will challenge David Finlay for the IWGP Global Championship at The New Beginning in Sapporo on February 23. Prior to that, Nemeth will wrestle for the first time since leaving WWE in Puerto Rico at WWC Euphoria on Saturday, January 20 as he takes on Ray Gonzalez.

Cardona’s promo at No Compadre was delivered “via satellite” in a video after his scheduled flight to the GCW event was cancelled due to weather issues.

Cardona left WWE in 2020 after a 15-year stint with the company and has since established his “Indy God” character in working for a variety of promotions around the globe.

Nemeth was with WWE from 2004 until being released from the company in September 2023. He released a “Wanted Man” video on the day of his NJPW debut to establish a new character for himself as he embarks on his post-WWE run.

Cardona also made mention of both Mustafa Ali and AJ Francis in his promo, but focused the majority of his comments on Nemeth. Ali debuted at No Comprade with a win over Gringo Loco, while AJ Francis is set to debut with GCW on January 26.
