July 24, 2006 Observer Newsletter: WWE Raw, Brock Lesnar

There will be a press conference taking place after this issue goes to press, in Toronto on 7/19, where it will be announced that, in Canada, Raw is moving from TSN to The Score, with the final Raw broadcast on TSN taking place on 7/31.
Both are sports channels, with TSN being by far the more popular of the two. However, TSN acquired the rights to the upcoming season of Monday Night Football, which means Raw would have to be moved in the fall to Tuesdays on tape.
WWE and TSN had been talking, and apparently WWE didn’t like the arrangement and tried to force TSN to choose between 52 weeks of Raw on Monday’s vs. one season of football, and quite frankly, the choice was obvious, since picking up Monday Night Football was considered a gigantic coup for TSN. Plus, there has been a decline in Raw Canadian ratings, although they are still well ahead of U.S. ratings. The official story is TSN decided to cancel the show based on declining ratings and unhappiness with some of the recent content.
