Gail Kim to miss NWA Crockett Cup due to illness

Gail Kim won’t be at today’s NWA Crockett Cup event at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia.

Kim was scheduled to serve as the special referee for the NWA World Women’s Championship match between Kenzie Paige and WWE’s Natalya. However, she released a statement on Saturday revealing she is suffering from flu or COVID-like symptoms and is unable to attend.

Kim wrote:

“I am sorry to have to announce that I cannot make it to the Crockett Cup today in Philadelphia. I hate to let the fans down and most of all Nattie and Kenzie but post cruise last Sunday, I went down hard and have been suffering severe flu/covid symptoms. I did not want to announce in hopes to make a full recovery by today, but I am still experiencing a high fever and have had to cancel this am.”

“I promise to make it up to the NWA fans and Billy and hope to come back for another event. I am so disappointed as I was looking forward to being the referee for the women’s championship title today. Wishing the best of luck to everyone in Philadelphia today and especially the ladies who I know will be bringing down 2300 Arena tonight!”

The NWA has also announced a change to the main event. Thom Latimer will now defend the NWA World Heavyweight Championship against both Rhino and Colby Corino in a triple threat match.

Additionally, the promotion revealed on Friday that it has struck a deal with streaming service Roku. The new NWA Wrestling Center channel will stream 24/7 on the platform, featuring both new and classic matches.
