Brian Cage scheduled to undergo surgery for torn right biceps

In a video that he posted today, Brian Cage gave an update on both his injury and contract status.

Cage confirmed that his contract with Impact Wrestling has come to an end. He said Impact made him an incredible offer, as did multiple other companies. Cage said that, while he was mulling all of that over, he suffered a torn right biceps. He’s scheduled to undergo surgery on Monday.

“I am not technically with any group right now at all,” Cage said. “I did have a bunch of amazing offers from all over the place, and I’m just hoping they’re still there as soon as I heal up.”

Cage mentioned that some people are saying it could take up to six months to recover, but he’s hopeful that he’ll be able to heal faster than that.

Cage said that — no matter how many times he’s been hurt in his career — he’s never had to undergo surgery until now. He apologized to everyone for the upcoming independent shows that he’ll have to miss. 

Cage faced Rob Van Dam at Impact’s Hard to Kill pay-per-view on January 12. They went to a no contest, with Cage being attacked before the match and then being given a Van Terminator by RVD. RVD then had another match where he defeated Daga.

On the same night as Hard to Kill, Steve Bryant of SoCalUncensored.com reported that Cage has agreed to a multi-year deal with AEW. Dave Meltzer wrote that “Nobody in AEW has either confirmed or denied the story to us, but Bryant’s track record on stories like this is excellent, especially when it relates to California talent.”
