WWE NXT video highlights: Pat McAfee returns
Former All-Pro punter Pat McAfee returned to NXT last night and helped Danny Burch & Oney Lorcan win the NXT Tag Team titles.
Burch & Lorcan weren’t originally supposed to challenge for the Tag Team titles last night, but there were angles where Bobby Fish and Roderick Strong were attacked backstage throughout the episode. Kyle O’Reilly was going to team with Strong after Fish was attacked, but O’Reilly told NXT general manager William Regal to give Burch & Lorcan the title shot after Strong was attacked too. Fish & Strong had defeated Burch & Lorcan in a number one contenders match last week.
A masked attacker pushed Fandango off the top rope during last night’s main event. Burch low blowed Tyler Breeze and then a double-team elevated DDT got Burch & Lorcan the win.
The attacker took off his mask after the match and was revealed to be McAfee. He mocked Undisputed Era and then cut a promo after the show saying this is the start of something very special. McAfee said he, Burch, and Lorcan are the new kings of this brand and they’re nowhere near done with what they’re going to do to NXT.
This was McAfee’s first appearance on NXT since making his in-ring debut in a loss against Adam Cole at TakeOver XXX this August. He was also presumably the person who had Ridge Holland attack Cole at TakeOver 31.
