WWE NXT video highlights: Number one contender’s battle royal
A battle royal in the main event of last night’s NXT decided who will challenge for the Women’s Championship at TakeOver: Portland.
The match came down to Bianca Belair and Io Shirai, with Belair eliminating Shirai with the KOD to get the title shot. Shayna Baszler and Kacy Catanzaro were surprise entrants, Mercedes Martinez took part in the match after signing with WWE, and Tegan Nox returned for the first time since TakeOver: WarGames.
Belair will challenge either Rhea Ripley or Toni Storm for the NXT Women’s Championship at TakeOver: Portland. Ripley is defending her title against Storm at Worlds Collide during Royal Rumble weekend.
Isaiah “Swerve” Scott advanced to the fatal four-way Cruiserweight title match at Worlds Collide by defeating Lio Rush and Tyler Breeze last night. DIY vs. Moustache Mountain has also been confirmed for the Worlds Collide special.
Next week’s NXT will feature the semifinals of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic and Roderick Strong vs. Keith Lee for the NXT North American Championship. The first round of the Dusty Classic concluded last night with Kushida & Alex Shelley vs. The Grizzled Young Veterans and Matt Riddle & Pete Dunne vs. Mark Andrews & Flash Morgan Webster.
