WWE NXT video highlights: Kyle O’Reilly vs. Pete Dunne

A number one contender’s match on last night’s episode of NXT determined NXT Champion Finn Balor’s challenger for New Year’s Evil.
Kyle O’Reilly booked his spot in the New Year’s Evil title match by defeating Pete Dunne last night. Dunne snapped O’Reilly’s fingers and was going for the Bitter End on the apron near the end of the match, but O’Reilly reversed and suplexed Dunne to the floor. O’Reilly then threw Dunne back in the ring and hit a knee strike from the top rope to get the win.
Paul “Triple H” Levesque tweeted after O’Reilly vs. Dunne: “Unbelievable match. From start to finish @KORCombat and @PeteDunneYxB tore the house down. Ready to see #BalorOReilly2 for the #NXTTItle at #NXTNYE … THIS IS #WWENXT!!!! #WeAreNXT”
Balor vs. O’Reilly is a rematch of the NXT TakeOver 31 main event. Balor retained against O’Reilly in that match but broke his jaw in two places in the process.
The New Year’s Evil episode of NXT is taking place on Wednesday, January 6. It was announced last night that Dexter Lumis will be the host of the event. Another match was also confirmed for New Year’s Evil, with Karrion Kross set to face off with Damian Priest. Kross returned to the ring last night and demolished Desmond Troy. After the match, Kross looked into the camera and challenged Priest for New Year’s Evil.
Last night’s main event saw Rhea Ripley take on Toni Storm. Storm got the win after Raquel Gonzalez interfered and threw Ripley into the ring post.
