Preview by Joseph Currier
Charlotte Flair makes her return to NXT tonight to respond to Rhea Ripley’s WrestleMania challenge.
After being confronted by Ripley on Monday’s Raw, Charlotte will be at Full Sail tonight to address Ripley challenging her. As the winner of this year’s women’s Royal Rumble match, Charlotte can challenge for either the Raw, SmackDown, or NXT Women’s Championship at WrestleMania 36.
Prior to WrestleMania, Ripley will defend her NXT Women’s Championship against Bianca Belair at TakeOver: Portland on Sunday, February 16. WWE has announced that Ripley and Belair will take part in a face-to-face segment tonight.
NXT Cruiserweight Champion Jordan Devlin is also set to appear on tonight’s show. Devlin defeated Angel Garza, Isaiah “Swerve” Scott, and Travis Banks in a fatal four-way match at Worlds Collide to win the Cruiserweight title.
WWE is hyping that The Undisputed Era are promising to get their hands on Tommaso Ciampa after his attack last week. Plus, Dusty Classic winners Matt Riddle & Pete Dunne will appear ahead of challenging for Kyle O’Reilly & Bobby Fish’s Tag Team titles at TakeOver.
**********
The live show from Full Sail opened with a Bro-serweights victory parade. Matt Riddle & Pete Dunne rode into the arena on a tricked out golf cart with the Dusty Classic trophy riding on the hood.
They were dressed in business casual street clothes. Riddle even wore a tie…but no shoes, bro.
Riddle said they were still celebrating their tournament win. The party continues with their new vehicle — which Riddle said is called the “Bro-serweightmobile”.
Dunne said the last he thought he would ever do was team with Riddle. “It was meant to be, bro,” Riddle replied.
Dunne vowed they would win the NXT Tag Team Championship at TakeOver: Portland.
Their promo was interrupted by Kyle O’Reilly & Bobby Fish. Undisputed Era were scoffing at Riddle & Dunne. Roderick Strong ran down to whisper in their ears — presumably to talk them down.
Fish said they had bigger fish to fry as they began to leave.
“How much fish could Bobby Fish fry if Bobby Fish could fry fish,” Riddle mockingly asked.
Dunne said not to worry how many fish Bobby Fish could fry. Riddle sang while the crowd clapped along: “How much fish could Bobby Fish fry if Bobby Fish could fry fish?”
Dunne concluded the promo by saying all that matters is the Bro-serweights are going to “smoke” the Undisputed Era at TakeOver.
Highlights from Raw recapped Angel Garza laying out Rey Mysterio with a hammerlock DDT on the exposed concrete floor. Garza is in action next on NXT.
Angel Garza defeated Isaiah “Swerve” Scott
Garza pinned Scott after the Wing Clipper in a good match.
Garza was in control early on when Swerve caught him with a springboard Frankensteiner. Swerve went to follow up with a flip into a handstand on the apron. Garza cut him off with a kick, and Swerve tumbled to the floor in a heap before the show cut to commercial.
During the break in the inset picture-in-picture, Garza tied Swerve in the tree of woe and hit him with a dropkick for a near fall. Swerve in a hope spot got an arm bar., but Garza dashed his chance at a comeback.
Garza with an airplane spin facebuster as the show returned from break. Garza with the Latin Lover spot where he ripped his tear-away pants off to reveal his trunks, and then he superkicked Swerve for a two count.
Swerve countered a reverse DDT and used a German suplex to create separation. Swerve with a flatliner for another near fall.
They traded superkicks and then there was a double down. They went on to trade chops. Garza with headbutts. Swerve countered by flipping Garza into a wacky stuff piledriver.
Both were fighting on the top turnbuckle when Garza backflipped off and grabbed his pants. He threw the pants at Swerve as he jumped off the ropes. Swerve caught the pants and looked at them with brief bewilderment.
That turned to anger as he threw the pants in the face of Garza. He then hit a step up kick.
Swerve was crotched soon thereafter and fell victim to the Wing Clipper. Garza then covered him for the pinfall.
Garza cut a promo after the match where he wanted a match for the NXT Cruiserweight Championship.
Undisputed Era was backstage searching for Tommaso Ciampa. They were asking around about his whereabouts. They stopped to bully a kid getting his hair cut. Strong grabbed the clippers and cut a chunk of the kid’s hair, and then the bullies went on their merry way.
A vignette hyped the arrival of Mercedes Martinez.
Sgt. Slaughter in full gimmick was shown sitting front row ringside.
Dominik Dijakovic defeated Killian Dain
Dijakovic pinned Dain to become the number one contender for the NXT North American Championship.
If JR were calling this show and not the other one he might say this was a slobberknocker, because it was indeed that.
They slugged it out at the start. Dijakovic was soon clotheslined over the ropes to the floor. Dain was posted and then Dijakovic delivered a senton off the steps.
Back in the ring Dain cut off Dijakovic with a crossbody block before the show went to a commercial break. No split screen this time. The show returned from break with Dain working over Dijakovic.
Dijakovic soon made a comeback, and he used a chokeslam into a sit-out powerbomb for a near fall. Dain cut him off again, and they did a superplex spot.
They traded high kicks, and then Dijakovic missed a moonsault. That allowed Dain to strike with a shotgun dropkick followed by a senton. Dain went for a Vader Bomb, but Dijakovic blocked his attempt.
Dijakovic hoisted Dain into a Torture Rack, and then executed Feast Your Eyes for the pinfall.
Becoming the number one contender to the North Amercian title in winning this match, Dijakovic now goes on to TakeOver:Portland where he challenges Keith Lee. Confronting his next challenger, Lee strolled on stage to face off with Dijakovic. The two have a storied rivalry that now has an extra layer with Lee as champion.
Undisputed Era was storming around looking for someone else to bully. They ran into Kushida. He tried to fight them off, but Kushida was beaten down and stomped on by the heel faction. Adam Cole with a Death Valley Driver planted Kushida into a trash can.
Bronson Reed stepped into the scene and Undisputed Era begged off at first. Strong with a jumping knee strike from the blind side nailed Reed to leave him laid out on the floor.
Up next was something similar to the “Face-to-Face” split screen promos from the early 1990s WWF syndicated shows. These days you see this gimmick on talking head news programs where two people shout at each other.
Anyway, this was split-screen debate of sorts between Finn Balor and Johnny Gargano. This is part of the build to their match at TakeOver:Portland. They cut promos on each other. This was good. Way better than those shouting matches on the news shows and also better than overly-scripted main roster promos.
Mercedes Martinez defeated Kacy Catanzaro
Martinez pinned Catanzaro after a fisherman’s buster. Martinez looked like a killer.
A brief vignette hyped Catanzaro after her entrance, but she still lost. She got some offense, though.
When Martinez went for a delayed vertical suplex, Catanzaro countered to rock Martinez. She was soon cut off, but not for long as she coountered a powerbomb into a hurricanrana for a two count.
Martinez mauled Catanzaro outside of the ring on the floor. She tossed her into the barricades before rolling her back into the ring. Martinez then used the fisherman’s buster to score the pinfall.
Cathy Kelley interviewed NXT Champion Rhea Ripley, and Kelley said Charlotte Flair was on her way to the arena. Ripley said she was more worried about her face-to-face confrontation with Bianca Belair later on.
Announced for TakeOver: Portland is Tegan Nox vs. Dakota Kai in a street fight.
Undisputed Era finally found Tommaso Ciampa when he atatcked them outside the building by a set of production trucks. Ciampa laid out everyone but Cole as a brawl erupted between them.
They fought their way into the building, and they brawled over to the annoucne desk. Cole was fleeing and Ciampa was on his heels.
The other three stablemates from Undisputed Era recovered to jump Ciampa. They ganged up on him for a beatdown. Riddle & Dunne ran down to make a save as security also poured into the ring.
William Regal stormed out doing the Teddy Long gimmick of booking a multi-person tag team for later on. That still did not stop the brawl as everyone kept fighting until being pulled apart by officials that poured out to separate them.
NXT Cruiserweight Champion Jordan Devlin defeated Tyler Breeze in a non-title match
Devlin with a sneak attack during Breeze’s entrance struck him with a wrecking ball dropkick to the outside before the show cut to commercial.
Devlin was working over Breeze when the show returned from the break. Devlin dashed a hope spot as he continued to target Breeze, but Breeze fought back to target a leg.
Breeze posted the leg, and then he flashed a mischievous smirk. Breeze went to work on the leg, but Devlin was able to escape his grasp to deliver a backbreaker.
Some trash talking by Devlin fired up Breeze — who proceeded to chop down Devlin with strikes. Breeze grounded Devlin and cranked on a neck vice.
Devlin was sent outside. Breeze hesitated but eventually went out after him. Devlin struck with a PK to Breeze, and then Devlin launched into a moonsault off the middle turnbuckle to the floor.
They teased a double count out, but both made in back in the ring to break the count. They traded strikes down the stretch. A standing moonsault by Devlin led to a two count and then a commercial break.

Devlin with a headbutt before he grabbed wrist control. He pulled Breeze into a Saito suplex, and then covered him for the pinfall.
Charlotte Flair arrived to the building in a SUV.
Bianca Belair came to the ring to cut a promo. She is heading to Portland to become the new champion. She mentioned Ripley calling out Flair on Raw. Belair was about to call out Ripley for their scheduled confrontation when she was interrupted by the theme song for Charlotte Flair.
Flair came to the ring and the Full Sail crowd chanted “welcome home” at her. Flair turned her attention to Belair. Flair said she had a lot of respect for Belair, and then she began to cut a promo on Belair when the theme song for Ripley interrupted her.
Ripley made her way to the ring like a force of nature. She got face-to-face with Flair. Belair tried to join the staredown, but Flair shooed her away. Belair was beside herself with that lack of respect.
Ripley told Flair to say why she came here. Belair got between them to tell Flair that “you don’t even go here.” Belair then scoffed at Ripley thinking she was going to run through her. Belair turned to Flair and said she would face Flair at WrestleMania.
Flair said this was a conversation for champions. She told Belair to stand aside and go fix her brands. Ripley took up for Belair by warning Flair about coming in to their house disrespecting them.
Ripley said they had a saying, “We are NXT.” She exchanged glances with Belair before they jumped Flair. They picked up Flair in an electric chair and then dropped her into a facebuster.
Belair and Ripley had a stand-off before Belair backed away to leave the scene. Ripley held her title belt above her head as Flair was still down selling.
Tommaso Ciampa, Matt Riddle & Pete Dunne defeated Adam Cole, Kyle O’Reilly & Bobby Fish via disqualification
Strong interfered for the DQ. This all led to an angle where Velveteen Dream returned to attack Undisputed Era.
Taking a page out of the Rush playbook, Undisputed Era attacked the babyfaces before the match like Los Ingobernables used to do in Arena Mexico. The babyfaces fought back to lay out everyone but Strong.
They surrounded Strong and threw him off the ramp. Ciampa was limping around.
O’Reilly ambushed Ciampa as the bell rang to officially start the match. Cimapa fired back and tagged out.
Riddle grappled with Fish until Cole tagged in. Riddle & Dunne with tandem moves on Cole. Dunne went for his finisher, but Cole countered to escape. Fish tried to interfere by grabbing Dunne’s leg. Dunne kicked him away and did a moonsault off the apron.
Distracted with Fish at ringside, Dunne fell victim to a sneak attack by Strong. Dunne took a falling backbreaker on the apron that set up the heat. Undisputed Era began to work over Dunne.
Riddle cleaned house after a hot tag. He ran wild with suplexes and sentons. Undisputed Era powedered and looked to regroup as the show cut to commercial. The split-screen was back for the main event.
Riddle threw around O’Reilly with a series of gutwrench suplexes during the break. Riddle was soon cut off and Undisputed Era got heat on him to set up another hot tag.
Riddle was grounded when the show returned from the final commercial break. Time for the home stretch.
Riddle and O’Reilly with some tremendous exchanges as they worked towards the finish. Strong caused a distraction that allowed Fish to take out both Ciampa and Dunne at ringside. That seemingly blocked Riddle from making a tag — except Dunne was still able to tag in and run wild.

Project Ciampa on O’Reilly, and Fish jumped in to break up a pinning attempt.
Ciampa allowed Cole to tag in so they could square off. A slugfest ensued and then everyone got involved as a brawl erupted. After all that and more, Strong jumped into the ring to hit Ciampa with a knee strike for the DQ.
O’Reilly & Fish after the amcth executed Chasing the Dragon on Dunne to leave him laying on the floor. They then hit Riddle with a high/low combo. Strong with a falling backbreaker on Ciampa.
Undisputed Era then retrieved some yellow spray paint. With his stablemates holding Ciampa, Cole painted a yellow “X” on Ciampa’s back.
The arena lights in the building went dark, and that was the cue for Velveteen Dream to return.
A video on the Titantron showed an image that turned into a Dream. In the darkness over the ring, Dream was seen standing perched on the a turnbuckle. He leapt into the ring and single handedly like a house of fire laid waste to Undisputed Era. He mopped the floor with them before focusing on Strong.
Dream doing a Rick Rude gimmick ripped off his tights to reveal another pair of tights with an airbrushed image of Dream and Strong. Dream with ground and pound on Strong — who soon fled the first chance he got.
Dream stood tall as the show closed.
