WWE considering main roster plans for NXT star Carmelo Hayes

WWE is considering plans to bring NXT star Carmelo Hayes to the main roster.

Dave Meltzer reported in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that there has been talk of Hayes coming up to the WWE main roster. Meltzer wrote that there’s been an idea batted around of Hayes joining The Hurt Business, but that was a discussion and is not definite.

Meltzer added that a call-up probably wouldn’t happen until after April. Hayes is expected to challenge Bron Breakker for the NXT Championship at NXT Stand & Deliver on Saturday, April 1.

Speaking of Hayes, it has been batted around the idea of Hayes in the Hurt Business with MVP, [Shelton] Benjamin, [Cedric] Alexander and [Bobby] Lashley. That was a discussion and not definite. But there has been talk of Hayes coming to the main roster. It probably wouldn’t happen until after April since Bron Breakker vs. Hayes looks to be the main event of the 4/1 NXT show in Los Angeles.

Hayes is a two-time NXT North American Champion.

At NXT Vengeance Day earlier this month, Hayes defeated Apollo Crews in a two-out-of-three falls match. Hayes won the match in two straight falls.

Hayes defeated JD McDonagh on NXT last week.
