Winner-take-all title vs. title match to headline July 8 episode of NXT

The NXT Championship and North American Championship will both be on the line in a winner-take-all title vs. title match next month.

It was announced tonight that Keith Lee will defend his North American Championship against Johnny Gargano and Finn Balor in a triple threat match on NXT next Wednesday. The winner will advance to face NXT Champion Adam Cole in a winner-take-all title vs. title match on the July 8 episode of the show.

Cole cut a promo on NXT tonight and addressed those who are coming after his title. He said Karrion Kross was impressive at TakeOver: In Your House, but he’s been on the brand for five minutes and has a long way to go before he earns a shot at Cole’s title.

Cole then mentioned Lee. He said Lee has his eyes on the NXT Championship — and Cole has his eyes on Lee’s North American title too. Cole reminded everyone that he was the first-ever North American Champion and called himself the greatest North American Champion there’s ever been.

Lee then came out to the ring, but Gargano’s music hit before he could say anything. Gargano said he pinned Lee in last week’s mixed tag match and wants the North American title. Gargano also said it’s about time that he gets the NXT Championship reign he deserves.

Balor was out to the ring next. He said he’s held titles all over the world, but he’s never been North American Champion. Balor warned that he’ll take the North American Championship and then come right for Cole’s NXT title.

NXT general manager William Regal appeared on the video screen and announced Lee vs. Gargano vs. Balor for the North American title next week, with the winner advancing to face Cole in the winner-take-all match on July 8.
