Trick Williams: CM Punk has been a ‘positive light’ for everyone in WWE NXT

Having CM Punk as a mentor has made a positive impact on NXT Champion Trick Williams’ career.
When Punk competed in the Royal Rumble this January, WWE uploaded a video of him training at the Performance Center as he prepared for the event. Williams was one of the wrestlers who Punk worked out with and gave advice to.
During an appearance on Unlikely with Adrian Hernandez, Williams was asked about that experience and what it’s been like getting to spend time with Punk at the Performance Center. Williams confirmed that Punk has been a mentor to him. He called Punk a “positive light” for everyone in NXT.
“Mentor is a perfect way to put it, man. He has been a blessing for all of us who would take the time to actually go talk to him and reach out to him,” Williams said. “He’s helped me with a few things that I feel like, if the crowd knew about it, they would be very grateful that he did. I’m just going to leave it there. Shoutout to CM Punk, man. He’s been a positive light for all of us here in NXT.”
Punk has been out of action since he suffered a torn triceps in the Royal Rumble. Since undergoing surgery, Punk has made some visits to the Performance Center as he recovers from his injury. Shawn Michaels said last week that it’s been a joy to have Punk around whenever he’s at NXT.
Williams is defending his NXT Championship against Ethan Page at NXT Battleground this Sunday (June 9). Page, a former AEW wrestler, is making is WWE in-ring debut at the event. It’s taking place from the UFC Apex in Las Vegas and will stream live on Peacock.
