Three matches, Tony D’Angelo’s debut set for next week’s WWE NXT

Three matches and a debut are set for next week’s NXT.

WWE has announced the following for next Tuesday’s NXT episode:

  • LA Knight vs. Odyssey Jones
  • Eight-man tag match: NXT Tag Team Champions MSK, Josh Briggs & Brooks Jensen vs. The Grizzled Young Veterans, Carmelo Hayes & Trick Williams.
  • Cora Jade in action
  • Tony D’Angelo’s debut

Vignettes hyping D’Angelo’s arrival have aired since NXT 2.0 premiered two weeks ago. D’Angelo’s real name is Joe Ariola. On NXT, he portrays an Italian character from Chicago whose family has ties to the mafia. Ariola’s past as an amateur wrestler for the University of Buffalo is also part of his character.

On last Tuesday’s NXT, Knight got mad at Jones for pointing out that he lost twice in the same night the previous week. There was a backstage segment on tonight’s show where Knight was interviewed about challenging Jones to a match. Knight attacked Jones and beat him down during the segment after capitalizing on a distraction.

MSK were interviewed in the ring tonight and said that any team can step up to them and get knocked back. That led to The Grizzled Young Veterans, Hayes & Williams, and Briggs & Jensen all making their way down to the ring. A brawl broke out that ended with MSK taking out The Grizzled Young Veterans and Hayes & Williams with dives to the outside.

Jade’s opponent for next week hasn’t been announced. A romantic relationship between Jade and Trey Baxter has recently been established in NXT.
