Report: Kay Lee Ray, Kacy Catanzaro get new WWE names

NXT’s Kay Lee Ray and Kacy Catanzaro appear to be the latest wrestlers to have their in-ring names changed by WWE.

PWInsider reported on Saturday that KLR will now be going by the in-ring name Alba Fyre going forward, while Catanzaro will now be going by the name Katana Chance.

WWE filed trademarks for both “Alba Fyre” and “Katana Chance” on April 12.

KLR was involved in the NXT Women’s Championship match at NXT Stand & Deliver during WrestleMania 38 weekend. Mandy Rose retained her title by defeating Cora Jade, Io Shirai, and KLR in a fatal four-way match.

Before coming to the United States’ version of NXT, KLR was the longest-reigning NXT UK Women’s Champion in history.

Catanzaro is part of a tag team with Kayden Carter in NXT. She signed with WWE in 2017 after having been a star on American Ninja Warrior.

In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that Vince McMahon decreed in a memo that he doesn’t want anyone new using their real names anymore, nor using names that they already had on the indies.

Marcel Barthel (now Ludwig Kaiser) and Raquel Gonzalez (Raquel Rodriguez) got new names when they were called up to SmackDown last week. Raw’s Austin Theory is now just going by the name Theory, while NXT’s Raul Mendoza has been given the name Cruz Del Toro.
