Kushida championship celebration added to WWE NXT

A championship celebration has been added to the lineup for this week’s episode of NXT.
WWE has announced that a championship celebration with new NXT Cruiserweight Champion Kushida will take place on NXT this Tuesday night. Kushida answered Santos Escobar’s open challenge on last week’s NXT and defeated him to win the Cruiserweight Championship.
This is the first title that Kushida has held since signing with WWE in 2019. He’s a former six-time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion in NJPW.
Escobar had defeated Jordan Devlin in a ladder match at TakeOver: Stand & Deliver earlier this month to become the undisputed NXT Cruiserweight Champion. After Kushida’s title win last week, Devlin confronted Kushida backstage. Devlin called himself the best wrestler in the world under 205 pounds and said Kushida is lucky that Devlin has to go home for a little while — but he’ll be back and he’ll be coming for the NXT Cruiserweight Championship. Kushida told NXT general manager William Regal that he’ll face Devlin anytime.
This week’s NXT will be the show’s second episode since moving to Tuesday nights. Here’s the updated lineup for the show:
- Kyle O’Reilly makes his first appearance since defeating Adam Cole in their unsanctioned match at TakeOver: Stand & Deliver
- Sarray debuts
- Dexter Lumis vs. LA Knight
- New NXT Cruiserweight Champion Kushida’s championship celebration
