Joe Hendry to challenge for WWE NXT title at No Mercy

TNA’s Joe Hendry will challenge Ethan Page for the WWE NXT Championship on September 1 at No Mercy.

Hendry won a number one contender’s three-way on Tuesday’s WWE NXT episode with help from Trick Williams to earn a shot at Page’s NXT title at the No Mercy event set for Sunday, September 1.

The number one contender’s match also involved Pete Dunne and Wes Lee, with Page on commentary for the contest. Page got involved in the bout’s closing stretch, distracting the referee as Hendry had Dunne pinned. Williams then came to Hendry’s aid, hitting Dunne with a Trick Shot as the referee climbed back into the ring to count the pin.

After the bout, Lee was attacked by Zachary Wentz, as the former tag partners look to be on a collision course for No Mercy.

Four title bouts are official for No Mercy. The current lineup for the Sunday, September 1 PLE:

  • WWE NXT Champion Ethan Page defends against Joe Hendry
  • WWE NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez defends against Jaida Parker
  • WWE NXT North American Champion Oba Femi defends against Tony D’Angelo
  • WWE NXT Tag Team Champions Chase U (Andre Chase & Ridge Holland) defend against Nathan Frazer & Axiom
