Je’Von Evans to challenge for WWE NXT Championship at Heatwave

Je’Von Evans is going to Heatwave.
Evans won the 25-man battle royal that opened Tuesday’s NXT. The final four participants included Evans, Dragon Lee, Shawn Spears, and TNA star Frankie Kazarian. After Kazarian and Lee were eliminated, Spears was the final elimination after eating a kick by Evans. As a result of the win, he will now challenge Trick Williams for the NXT title on July 7 in Toronto.
However, Ethan Page complained to Ava backstage about what had happened in the battle royal. He was never eliminated, as Oro Mensah entered the ring and brawled with Page to the back. Page and Evans ended up wrestling in the main event, with Page winning.
Williams, who was on commentary during the match, entered the ring and the two brawled until Spears entered the ring, attacking Williams. Evans came off the top rope and all four wound up on the floor, the NXT title in the middle as the show ended.
Since making his debut in NXT earlier this year, Evans had been on a winning streak until last week’s NXT, when he was pinned by Shawn Spears. Before that, Evans had teamed with Williams recently to defeat Gallus.
