Ilja Dragunov stretchered out in storyline following WWE NXT match

Tuesday’s NXT ended with an injury angle involving Ilja Dragunov.

Dragunov was wrestling Ridge Holland in the main event of Tuesday’s show when Holland delivered a DDT. Dragunov started to sell like he was hurt as referees came to the ring to check on Dragunov. The show ended with Holland looking dejected in the corner as a neck brace was put on Dragunov before being stretchered to the back.

Holland appeared earlier in the show during a Dragunov promo, saying he returned to NXT so he could redeem himself after many setbacks. He told Dragunov that he was willing to work his way up to get a NXT Championship match. Dragunov then offered Holland a chance to face him in a non-title match on Tuesday’s show, with Holland accepting.

Holland was last seen on television last month, walking out on his tag team partner Butch during a SmackDown match against Pretty Deadly. Butch has since wrestled on SmackDown as a singles wrestler.

Another WWE main roster team, Cruz Del Toro & Joaquin Wilde, made an appearance on Tuesday’s show as well. They helped Dragon Lee fend off the No Quarter Catch Crew after he successfully defended the NXT North American title against both Charlie Dempsey and Gallus’ Joe Coffey.

Dragunov is currently set to defend the NXT Championship against Trick Williams at New Year’s Evil, which takes place on January 2.
