One of the title matches that was scheduled for tonight’s NXT will no longer be taking place.

NXT general manager William Regal announced this afternoon that NXT Cruiserweight Champion Kushida isn’t cleared to compete on tonight’s show. Kushida was supposed to defend his title against Roderick Strong tonight. There will instead be a Diamond Mine open challenge to kick off the episode.

“Unfortunately after a medical examination, officials learned @KUSHIDA_0904 is not cleared to compete tonight,” Regal wrote. “When I informed @Malcolmvelli and @roderickstrong, they expressed Roderick’s desire to compete. Therefore, #WWENXT will begin with a #DiamondMine open challenge.”

Tonight’s episode of NXT was being billed as “Title Tuesday.” The show will feature an NXT Tag Team title match with MSK defending against Imperium’s Marcel Barthel & Fabian Aichner.

Tonight’s NXT is the go-home show for TakeOver 36. The TakeOver event is taking place this Sunday.

Here’s the updated lineup for tonight’s show:

  • NXT Tag Team Champions MSK defend against Imperium
  • NXT Breakout Tournament semifinal match: Duke Hudson vs. Carmelo Hayes
