Carmelo Hayes vs. Grayson Waller set for NXT Spring Breakin’

Grayson Waller will soon get another shot at the NXT Championship.

Waller defeated Dragon Lee, Duke Hudson, and JD McDonagh in a four-way match to become the new number one contender for the NXT Championship on Tuesday’s show. Waller will now face new champion Carmelo Hayes on a special edition of NXT, Spring Breakin’, on April 25.

The finish came when Lee struck Hudson with a running powerbomb. Waller came into the ring and struck Lee with a rolling cutter, then pinned Hudson to become the new number one contender. As Waller was celebrating, Hayes came out and the two had a staredown to end the show.

Last week’s NXT saw new champion Hayes call out Bron Breakker as a sign of respect for his run as NXT Champion. Breakker at first acted sportsmanlike, but later turned on Hayes, attacking both Hayes and Trick Williams.

On this week’s NXT, Hayes offered Breakker the fourth spot in the four-way match. Later in the show, Breakker interrupted a Chase U celebration segment and rejected the offer, saying the championship was a curse. He offered the spot to Hudson, who then accepted. Breakker acted like he was going to leave, but then attempted to spear Hudson, who instead put Andre Chase in front of him, causing Chase to get laid out.

Waller last recieved a NXT Championship match at Vengeance Day back in February, losing to Breakker in a steel cage match.
