Bronson Reed qualifies for NXT North American title ladder match

Bronson Reed is the first wrestler to qualify for the NXT North American Championship ladder match at TakeOver XXX.

Reed qualified for TakeOver by defeating Roderick Strong and Johnny Gargano in a triple threat match on NXT tonight. This will be the first time Reed has wrestled on a TakeOver show. His win tonight was put over on commentary as the biggest of his career.

Gargano hit the One Final Beat DDT on Strong in the triple threat match and put his arm over Strong to pin him, but Reed hit a splash from the top rope. Reed then pinned Strong to get the win.

Tonight’s NXT opened with the announcement that Keith Lee has vacated the North American Championship. He defeated Adam Cole in their winner-take-all title vs. title match two weeks ago to win the NXT Championship and retain the North American Championship.

Lee said he wanted as many people as possible to get a chance to win the North American title. NXT general manager William Regal then announced that there will be a series of triple threat matches starting tonight to determine the participants for a ladder match to crown a new North American Champion at TakeOver XXX.

The ladder match will feature five wrestlers in total.

TakeOver XXX is taking place on Saturday, August 22. The event was originally supposed to be TakeOver: Boston.
