NJPW WTL & BOSJ night one live results: The tour begins

World Tag League: Tomohiro Ishii & Toru Yano defeated Bad Luck Fale & Chase Owens (5:35)

This was equal parts comedy and wild brawl. 

The story of the bout was a series of miscommunication spots between Owens and Fale that cost them the match. 

Ishii and Yano scored some early offense when Owens ran into Fale by mistake. Fale cut Ishii off. Fale and Owens worked Ishii over until he hit a German on Owens for a double down. 

Yano and Fale got tags. Yano raked Fale’s face and untied a corner pad. Yano tried for a slam but couldn’t get Fale up. Fale slammed Yano instead but Ishii saved. Fale sent Ishi into the exposed buckle. 

Yano and Ishii stepped out of the way of a charge into the corner and Fale hit Owens and the exposed buckle. Yano covered Fale. Owens tried a splash out of the corner to break up the pin. Yano stepped out of the way and Owens splashed Fale. 

Yano then stacked up both of them and covered for the flash pin. 

Fale beat down Yano after the match. 

Best of the Super Jrs.: Master Wato (w/Hiroyoshi Tenzan) defeated Yuya Uemura (4:15)

This was great. Just a complete sprint. 

Uemura tried to steal a quick win with a flying forearm, shotgun dropkick and Boston crab. Wato sold this like a potential finish but reached the ropes to force a break. 

Wato established the advantage after a series of kicks. Uemura came back with another flying forearm and a release German. Uemura tried a double overhook suplex but Wato blocked. 

Wato then hit the TTD for the pin. 

World Tag League: Great-O-Khan & Jeff Cobb defeated Hiroshi Tanahashi & Toa Henare (2:28)

Cobb was the mystery partner. Not a surprise if you’re an Observer subscriber. O-Khan has toned down his attire and looks less like a cartoon character. Unfortunately, his offense still looks terrible. 

Cobb and O-Khan attacked before the opening bell. Tanahashi and Henare sent O-Khan outside and hit some tandem offense on Cobb. 

O-Khan jumped back in and hit some of his wacky offense. O-Khan hit a Dominator on Tanahashi and he rolled outside. 

Cobb then hit the Tour of the Islands on Henare for the pin. 

Cobb and O-Khan continued their attack after the bell. O-Khan hit Tanahashi’s left leg with a chair and Tana had to be helped to the back.

They’re trying to do something with O-Khan and tried to give Cobb a fresh paint of coat at the expense of Tanahashi. Time will tell if it works or not, but I’m not hopeful. 

Best of the Super Jrs.: Robbie Eagles defeated DOUKI (10:36)

This was the first match that got any kind of time. It was very good if you throw out the silliness of multiple ref bumps that served little purpose. 

DOUKI attacked before the bell. Eagles answered with a suicide flip dive to the floor. Eagles tried a springboard attack back in but DOUKI shoved the ref into the ropes. THe ref took a bump and Eagles fell outside. 

DOUKI grabbed a chair. The referee took it away from him but DOUKI shoved the ref and he took another bump on the floor. DOUKI whipped Eagles into the barricade and choked him with his steel pipe. 

Eagles made a comeback with a running elbow to the back of the head, a lariat and double knees in the corner for a series of near falls. 

Eagles went for a 450 to the leg, the setup for his Miller Special submission. DOUKI caught him in a triangle on landing. Eagles fought to the ropes to force a break. Eagles blocked Daybreak. DOUKI blocked Turbo Backpack. 

Eagles hit a series of high kicks. DOUKI cut him off with a counter lariat. DOUKI then hit Daybreak for a near fall. DOUKI called for Suplex de la Luna. Eagles rolled through and used a jackknife cover for two. 

DOUKI tried a clever sugar hold into a cradle for a two count. Eagles hit Turbo Backpack, the 450, then locked on the Miller Special and DOUKI tapped. 

World Tag League: Taichi & Zack Sabre Jr. defeated Hirooki Goto & YOSHI-HASHI (10:30)

These guys had a banger that went over 30 minutes last time they faced each other. This was not that, but that match played into this one as both teams were able to block key moves due to their familiarity. 

Goto and Taichi began. Taichi stalled, then used underhanded tactics to cut Goto off. Sabre and Taichi worked Goto over. Goto came back with a double lariat and tagged out. 

YH and Taichi had a nice exchange. YH dodged Taichi’s jumping high kick in the corner. Taichi hit an axe bomber and tagged out. 

YH went for a bunker buster but Sabre turned it into a guillotine. YH powered out and hit a vertical suplex. Goto jumped in for a double team. YH hit a headhunter. 

All four guys were in. Each team blocked the other’s tandem finisher.  Taichi took Goto to the corner with an illegal choke. Sabre used the opportunity to roll YH up and escape with the pin. 

Best of the Super Jrs.: SHO defeated BUSHI (10:19)

This was the best match of the night so far. Nothng spectacular, but ten solid minutes of two great professionals telling a story. 

SHO got the best of the first exchange of the match and hit a shoulder block. BUSHI rolled outside and blocked an attack of the apron. BUSHI sent SHO into the barricade. After a countout tease, SHO made it back in at 19. 

BUSHI used an STF. SHO sold his back and neck after breaking the hold. SHO hit a spear for a two count. SHO went after BUSHI’s left arm, wrenching away on it. BUSHI came back and hit a pair of basement dropkicks and a tope suicida. 

After a striking battle, BUSHI tried for a codebreaker. SHO blocked and used an armbar before attacking the left arm again. SHO hit a power breaker for a two count. 

SHO then immediately hit Shock Arrow for the pin. 

World Tag League: EVIL & Yujiro Takahashi (w/Dick Togo) defeated SANADA & Shingo Takagi (12:20)

This was excellent whenever Shingo was in. He was determined to drag EVIL and Yujiro to a good match. He wasn’t in much, unfortunately. 

Bullet Club used a jumpstart attack before the bell. Shingo and SANADA initially fought it off. Shingo and EVIL had an electric exchange. Bullet Club then turned it into a brawl on the floor. Abe the ring announcer took a bump, the new spot in every EVIL match. 

SANADA ended up back inside and cut off. Yujiro and EVIL took turns in working him over. Shngo got a hot tag and ran wild with corner lariats. Shingo hit a pumping bomber on EVIL. SANADA got a tag and was cut off. EVIL hit a powerbomb for a two count. 

SANADA blocked Everything is EVIL. Shingo jumped in for the double team. SANADA hit a TKO for a near fall. 

SANADA used a spinning Skull End. Togo jumped on the apron with a ligature and choked SANADA while Yujiro took the ref. 

SANADA broke free of Togo and used Skull End again. Yujiro jumped in for the save. EVIL hit a low blow and Everything is EVIL for the pin. 

Best of the Super Jrs.: Ryusuke Taguchi defeated El Desperado (12:35)

This was a lot of fun. They worked a Taguchi match, completely built around the stuff that he does in every match. 

Taguchi did some comedy right away, teasing that he blew himself up after his stretching routine. Taguchi then blew Desperado up with a series of drop-downs. 

Taguchi got cut off after missing a hip attack. He came back with three amigos but missed a bomaye. Desperado used a stretch muffler but Taguchi reached the ropes. Taguchi then hit a bomaye. 

Taguchi went for Dodon but Desperado pulled the ref in the way. Taguchi blocked a low blow. Taguchi blocked Pinche Loco. Desperado blocked another Dodon attempt. 

For the finish, Taguchi tried for Dodon. Desperado blocked. Taguchi went for a cradle. Desperado reversed the cradle. Taguchi reversed the reversal and held on for the 1-2-3. 

World Tag League: Juice Robinson & David Finlay defeated Tama Tonga & Tanga Loa (w/Jado) (16:43)

This was a very good match. All action. There were a couple of spots where their timing was off, probably from not working regularly, but that’s a nitpick. 

First, some aesthetics. Tama Tonga has cut off his hair and shaved. Finlay looks like he has leaned out some. 

Tama Tonga and Juice began. They did some crowd work and a very basic opening sequence. Finlay tagged in and useda chinlock. Loa tagged in and Juice was cut off by GoD. Finlay got a hot tag and ran wild. before he was cut off as well. 

GoD worked Finlay over on the outside, sending him into the barricade. Tonga took a shot at Juice on the apron and continued working on Finlay with a series of strikes. Tonga used a nice snap suplex for a near fall. 

Loa got a tag and hit a slingshot senton for a two count. Juice fired the crowd up on the apron while he waited for a hot tag. Finlay hit a diving uppercut forearm and made that hot tag. 

Juice ran wild with spinebusters. He hit a cannonball in the corner on Loa, a series of jabs, then a standing dropkick. Jado interfered from the floor and got taken out with a baseball slide. Juice missed a diving attack off the top but rolled through. Loa hit a powerslam into a double down. 

Tonga got a tag. Tonga and Loa hit a Tongan Twist for a near fall on Juice. Finlay interfered and got hit with one as well. Tonga missed a splash in the corner and ran into a double flapjack for two. 

Finlay and Juice tried a Hart Attack but Loa saved and speared Finlay. Juice kicked out of a Magic Killer. Tonga hit a huge splash in the corner. Finlay saved and hit a top rope superplex on Loa. Juice hit Loa with a top rope splash. 

Jado jumped on the apron and ate a Left Hand of God. Juice and Finlay hit a Doomsday Device and Juice pinned Loa. 

Best of the Super Jrs.: Hiromu Takahashi defeated Taiji Ishimori (20:06)

This was not a safe match but it was incredibly compelling. Both guys took a beating, but Hiromu in particular took several bumps on his head and neck that were terrifying. If you can set that aside, this was a great match. 

They charged each other like rams at the opening bell. Ishimori tried to set up a sliding German but Hiromu blocked, then hit a shotgun dropkick off the apron. Hiromu hit a couple of chops on the floor. 

They made it back inside but didn’t stay there for long. Hiromu tried a sunset bomb. Ishimori blocked and hit a powerbomb on the apron. They did a countout tease. Hiromu beat the count back in at 15. 

Ishimori went after Hiromu’s neck with stomps and short kicks. Hiromu fired back with palm strikes to the chest. They traded forearm strikes, then corner clotheslines. Ishimori tried a handspring kick but Hiromu hit a powerbomb. Ishimori no-sold the powerbomb. Hiromu then hit a release German into the buckle. 

They rolled to the apron. Hiromu teased a suplex on the apron. Ishimori blocked and hit a piledriver on the apron. Yikes. Hiromu sold this like he was nearly killed, and for all I know he might have been. 

Ishimori tried a golden triangle moonsault off the post. Hiromu caught him and hit a falcon arrow on the floor. They teased a double countout but both made it back in at 19. 

Hiromu hit an insane dropkick as Ishimori was about to hit the ropes. He followed up with a Dynamite Plunger for a two count. Ishimori hit a jumping knee strike. Hiromu connected with a rebound lariat for another near fall. 

They traded lariats. Hiromu tried to take a flip bump off a lariat and landed right on his head. Ishimori hit a shoulder breaker and a lung blower for a near fall at the 15 minute call. 

Ishimori used La Mistica to set up a Yes Lock. Hiromu tried to roll through but Ishimori kept the hold applied. Hiromu finally reached the ropes to force a break. 

Hiromu blocked a Bloody Cross. Ishimori hit a lariat. Hiromu countered another Bloody Cross attempt with a pop-up powerbomb and a flatliner for two. 

Ishimori hit a neckbreaker over his knee. Hiromu reversed another attempt into a DVD into the buckle. He hit a second DVD in the center of the ring. 

Hiromu then hit Time Bomb and covered for the pin. What a war. 

Hiromu closed the show with a promo.
