NJPW New Beginning in Osaka notes: Bullet Club, Chris Charlton, wrestler returns

News and notes from the New Beginning in Osaka.

In the co-main event, the House of Torture pounced on Yota Tsuji following his time limit draw with Gabe Kidd for the IWGP Global title. EVIL and Dick Togo, who had teased leaving NJPW, came to the ring and at first hinted they may have been done with the House of Torture. But it was all a ruse, as they laid out Tsuji. The House of Torture then turned on Kidd, laying him out as well. EVIL then announced that the War Dogs would no longer be affiliated with the Bullet Club.

Despite largely staying out each other’s way, it has been established that both the House of Torture and War Dogs are splinter factions of the Bullet Club.

Yuya Uemura, who had to withdraw from the G1 Climax tournament last summer after tearing his triceps, made his return during the show by making the save for Taichi as he was being attacked by the War Dogs. Taichi defeated former Just Five Guys member SANADA in their grudge match.

Just prior to the end of the broadcast, announcer Walker Stewart confirmed that Chris Charlton would be returning to commentary for NJPW’s anniversary show on March 6. He had been placed on ‘indefinite hiatus’ from NJPW following anti-AEW comments made during Wrestle Dynasty on January 5.
