Hiroshi Tanahashi renews contract with NJPW


One of NJPW’s top stars has renewed their contract with the promotion.
In a tweet on Friday, Hiroshi Tanahashi announced that he’s signed a new deal with NJPW. Tanahashi wrote that he’s renewed his contract and will do his best.
Tanahashi is the current IWGP United States Heavyweight Champion. He won the title from KENTA in a no disqualification match at Wrestle Kingdom 16 night two earlier this month. It was announced coming out of that match that KENTA had sustained a dislocated left hip, a broken nose, tendon damage to his finger, and severe lacerations to his back and would have to miss Wrestle Kingdom 16 night three.
NJPW vs. Pro Wrestling NOAH was the theme of night three of Wrestle Kingdom. The main event saw Tanahashi team with Kazuchika Okada to defeat Keiji Muto & Kaito Kiyomiya.
Tanahashi will defend his IWGP United States Heavyweight title against SANADA at NJPW’s New Year’s Golden Series tour show in Hokkaido on Saturday, February 19.
