First two participants advance in NJPW G1 Climax qualifier tournament

YOSHI-HASHI and Callum Newman are moving on in NJPW’s G1 Climax qualifier tournament.

NJPW is holding a tournament to decide the final two participants for this year’s G1. On Saturday, the A Block portion got underway with YOSHI-HASHI defeating Chase Owens and Newman defeating Yujiro Takahashi.

The semifinals will be held on July 3 with Tomohiro Ishii facing YOSHI-HASHI and KENTA facing Newman. Then, the finals will happen on July 5 with the winner earning the final A Block spot in the G1.

Toru Yano vs. Boltin Oleg and Satoshi Kojima vs. TJP are the first-round matches in the B Block side of the qualifier tournament. Those are taking place this Sunday (June 23). Hiroshi Tanahashi will face the Yano vs. Oleg winner in the semifinals, while Taichi faces the Kojima vs. TJP winner.

The B Block side follows the same format as the A Block bracket with the semifinals taking place on July 3 leading into the finals on July 5. The qualifier tournament is part of NJPW’s New Japan Soul 2024 tour.

On July 20, the G1 kicks off with an event in Osaka. The entrants for both blocks are listed below:
