The New Japan Cup is down to its final two competitors.

Yota Tsuji vs. Hirooki Goto will take place in the finals on Wednesday, March 20 in Nagaoka. The winner will advance to face IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Tetsuya Naito at Sakura Genesis on April 6.

The tournament semifinals took place on Monday in Fukushima. Tsuji defeated EVIL on the show, needing help from his LIJ teammates to overcome repeated interference by House of Torture. Goto then defeated SANADA in the second semifinal.

Tsuji’s route to the finals included wins over Jeff Cobb, El Phantasmo, Ren Narita, and EVIL. Goto’s route included wins over Chase Owens, a forfeit win over David Finlay, and SANADA.

Goto is the only wrestler ever to win the New Japan Cup three times. However, he has never been able to win the world title after doing so.

The only other match announced for Wednesday’s show is YOH vs. Yoshinobu Kanemaru.
