El Phantasmo misses NJPW event due to knee injury

A knee injury forced El Phantasmo to miss Thursday’s NJPW show in Aomori.
Phantasmo was scheduled to headline the New Japan Soul event in a six-man tag match, teaming with Hirooki Goto & Yuya Uemura against Zack Sabre Jr., Ryohei Oiwa & Hartley Jackson. Instead, Tomoaki Honma replaced him in the match. Their team was victorious with Uemura pinning Jackson.
NJPW announced the late change when they informed fans before the show that Phantasmo was not cleared to compete.
“El Phantasmo has sustained a right knee injury and has not been cleared to compete tonight,” the promotion wrote. “Tonight’s main event will see Tomoaki Honma replace ELP against TMDK.”
There has been no further announcement regarding Phantasmo’s injury or when he’ll be back in action. His next match is supposed to be this Saturday.
This was the second night of the New Japan Soul tour. The tour began on Wednesday with Phantasmo, Goto & Shota Umino defeating Sabre, Oiwa & Jackson.
Phantasmo is the current NJPW World Television Champion.
