Lucha Underground’s Sexy Star signs MMA deal with Combate Americas

Dulce Maria Garcia Rivas, otherwise known as Sexy Star in Lucha Underground and AAA, has signed a deal to fight in Combate Americas.

The former Lucha Underground world champion and Gift of the Gods champion will make her MMA debut on Friday, April 12th in Monterrey, Mexico. Her opponent has not yet been named.

The 36-year-old Rivas carries a 5-0 pro boxing record and went 3-0 in 2018, last competing in August with a decision victory.

She first started in wrestling back in 2006, beginning with AAA and Lucha Libre AAA before her multi-year run in Lucha Underground. She made headlines last year for winning the LU title in an Aztec Warfare match before dropping it to Johnny Mundo, and also gained some notoriety for a 2017 altercation in a match with Rosemary.

Rivas won’t be the only pro wrestler competing for Combate Americas as former WWE and international star Alberto Rodriguez (aka Alberto del Rio, Alberto el Patron) is expected to make his promotional debut this year after a near decade absence from fighting, something he did 14 times between 2001 and 2010.
