Rob Van Dam suffered double heel fracture at MLW Battle Riot VII

Rob Van Dam is injured.
The 54-year-old says he broke both of his heels when he was eliminated from the Battle Riot match earlier this month. RVD was the last competitor to be eliminated in the match, having been tossed from the turnbuckle to the floor by MLW World Champion and Battle Riot VII winner, Matt Riddle.
During an episode of his 1 of a Kind podcast, RVD revealed that he suffered the injuries upon landing outside the ring.
RVD said:
“A couple weeks ago, I had a match with MLW. A lot of people saw that. A lot of people don’t know that I got hurt because it was the very last move of the night. I went up to the top rope and Matt Riddle pushed me off, and the way I landed on my feet — normally, I kind of hug the guardrail and my weight goes into it. This time, I must have misjudged it a little bit, and I just landed on my feet. Both heels blew. I thought that my ankles were sprained. I crawled out of there. I haven’t been able to walk since. I got the X-rays, both heels broke.”
“It definitely made me cancel a lot of plans that I had for the next few months,” he continued, noting that he still managed to fulfill all of his scheduled WrestleCon and WrestleMania appearances.

RVD’s appearance in Battle Riot VII marked his MLW debut. For the first time in history, the MLW World Championship was on the line in the match, with Riddle retaining the title after winning Battle Riot for the second year in a row. The event took place at Thunder Studios in Long Beach, California. MLW’s next show is Azteca Lucha at Cicero Stadium just outside of Chicago on May 10.
