MLW announces Battle Riot III for Philadelphia

MLW has confirmed the location of this year’s Battle Riot event.

Battle Riot III will take place at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on Saturday, July 18. The show will be headlined by a 40-man Battle Riot match for a future shot at the MLW World Heavyweight Championship.

MLW wrote about the rules for the battle royal:

ABOUT THE BATTLE RIOT

A mash-up of a battle royal, royal rumble and anything goes street fight, this super-sized main event will feature 40 wrestlers with new participants entering the ring every 60 seconds.

There will be surprises! There will be legends! There will be WTF entries… and there will be no disqualifications!

Elimination is by pinfall, submission or by throwing an individual over the top rope.

Anything is possible in a Battle Riot!

What does the winner get?

The winner gets a World Heavyweight Title Shot anywhere, anytime!  It could be that night; it could be in 6 months – you just don’t know. The challenger has the key to unlock an instant title shot against whoever the champion is!

Battle Riots I and II both took place at the Melrose Ballroom in Queens, New York. Tom Lawlor won the inaugural match in July 2018, while LA Park won Battle Riot II in April of last year.

With the title shot that he got for winning the Battle Riot, Lawlor defeated Low Ki for the MLW World Heavyweight Championship in February of last year. Lawlor dropped the title to Jacob Fatu in July, and LA Park unsuccessfully challenged Fatu for the title in the main event of November’s Saturday Night SuperFight pay-per-view.

Tickets for Battle Riot III are on sale now.
