CMLL no longer in working relationship with ROH

CMLL and ROH are no longer in a working relationship.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, CMLL announced that their strategic partnership with ROH has come to an end. The promotions had worked together since 2016.

ROH hasn’t commented publicly on the end of the working relationship.

“The World Wrestling Council reports that as of today, the strategic alliance that it had with the American company Ring of Honor since 2016 comes to an end,” CMLL’s statement said (translation via Google Translate). “CMLL continues to focus its efforts and resources with the commitment to continue presenting The Best Wrestling in the World and thanks ROH for this period of joint work.”

ROH and CMLL’s working relationship included the promotions running their Global Wars Espectacular tour together in the United States in 2019. Matt Taven also formerly held the NWA World Historic Welterweight Championship in CMLL and wrestled in the main event of CMLL’s 85th Aniversario in 2018.

Federacion Wrestling announced this past weekend that Taven will be in action at their debut event that’s taking place on pay-per-view this June. ROH World Champion Rush and his family are involved with the new promotion.

This February, CMLL and NJPW issued a joint statement reaffirming that their working relationship is unwavering.
