Last week, CMLL aired a teaser of a star coming soon to the company, leading to speculation that Idolo may be making a return.
Idolo has not been in CMLL since 2015, where he wrestled under the name La Sombra. Shortly before leaving for WWE, he lost a mask vs. mask match to Atlantis at CMLL’s 82nd Anniversary show. He also held the IWGP Intercontinental title during his run with the company as part of a talent agreement between CMLL and New Japan Pro Wrestling.
Idolo is currently signed to AEW, where he is a part of their Continental Classic tournament that runs through the end of the month. He is set to face Bryan Danielson in a match that will air this Saturday.
