Janela out for ‘at least a year’ with knee injury, stripped of WWN title

Joey Janela is out for at least a year following a botched dive spot last month that totaled his knee.

After revealing the extent of the damage to his knee last week, Janela took to Twitter today to give another update on his injury status.

“Well I met my surgeon today, it’s official I’ll be gone for at least a year…even worse [than] I thought, really heartbroken,” he wrote. “He said this one was is really bad, surgery next week…the voyage has never been easy for me, It’s a long way to the top if you wanna rock ‘n’ roll.”

It was announced earlier this morning by WWN that due to the knee injury, Janela has been officially stripped of the WWN championship. A tournament to crown a new champion will take place on October 28 in Ybor City, Florida.

Janela was injured back on 9/21 during the Game Changer Wrestling Live Fast, Die Young event. Janela went for a crossbody off the top rope to the floor on former WCW star Psicosis when he landed badly on his knee on impact, tearing his PCL and MCL among other tears, contusions and sprains.
