Title change takes place at Friday’s Impact TV taping

The following contains spoilers for this Thursday’s Impact on AXS.
In a match that will air this Thursday, The Motor City Machine Guns defeated Heath & Rhino at Friday’s Impact TV taping in Pembroke Pines, Florida, to recapture the Impact Tag Team titles.
The bout was a rematch from this past Thursday’s show which saw the two teams battle to a no contest due to interference from the Major Players. As a result, Matt Cardona and Brian Myers were banned from ringside for the rematch.
With the win, Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley join FTR as multi-promotional champions as they also hold the NJPW Strong Tag Team titles. In storyline, they had been pushing for a title shot for weeks before finally getting it last Thursday.
The win gives them their third Impact title reign and their first since the summer of 2020.
After winning the titles in November from The Kingdom, this was just the second title defense for Heath & Rhino.
Based on the recent storyline, it’s possible there will be a three-way for the titles at January’s Hard to Kill between the Machine Guns, Heath & Rhino and the Major Players. Scheduled for Saturday’s taping are singles matches featuring Sabin vs. Cardona, and Myers vs. Heath.
In the other title defense Friday, Impact World Champion Josh Alexander defended against Moose.
