Nic Nemeth retains TNA World title over Joe Hendry at Bound for Glory

Believing in Joe Hendry wasn’t enough.

Hendry ultimately failed to win the TNA World Championship at Bound For Glory. The finish of the match had special guest referee Frankie Kazarian attempt to cash in his Call Your Shot Gauntlet trophy he had won earlier in the show. However, JBL made another surprise appearance, laying out Kazarian with the clothesline from hell. He exited the ring and told something to Hendry, who seemed confused and grabbed JBL by the jacket in response. JBL responded by laying out Hendry with a clothesline. JBL also took out Ryan Nemeth before making his exit.

Back in the ring, Hendry was laid out by Ziggler with the Danger Zone but kicked out as a second referee made his way to the ring. Hendry went for the Standing Ovation but Nemeth dodged and hit the Danger Zone for a second time, scoring the win.

The TNA World Championship has alluded Hendry for most of the year. At Slammiversary, he lost the chance to win the title after Josh Alexander turned on him. He would go on to defeat Kazarian to become the new number-one contender for Nic Nemeth’s title last month.
