Mustafa Ali set for AAA debut this Saturday in Mexico City

Mustafa Ali is set to make his AAA debut as part of the promotion’s upcoming Alianzas tour.

On Tuesday, AAA announced that Ali will wrestle at this Saturday’s TV taping in Mexico City, marking his first appearance for the company.

AAA initially teased Ali’s arrival by announcing a mystery wrestler would be joining the tour and posting an image of a silhouetted figure. However, fans quickly identified the silhouette as Ali.

AAA later confirmed the news, writing, “The mystery has been REVEALED! Mustafa Ali will be present on the new tour this coming Saturday from CDMX.”

Yesterday, LuchaBlog speculated on Ali’s likely role in AAA, suggesting he will be in a spot similar to one previously occupied by Matt Riddle.

“He’s likely wrestling Laredo Kid on 02/15 for the AAA Cruiserweight Championship,” LuchaBlog wrote. “If that match happens, Ali is likely winning and will inhabit the same role as Matt Riddle: occasional big show appearances and being a ‘big name’ because AAA doesn’t believe their Mexican wrestlers are big enough names to draw fans (and aren’t motivated to address that problem.)”

Ali’s schedule remains busy beyond his AAA debut. TNA announced Tuesday that he will appear on this week’s Impact, hosting a Townhall Meeting on Thursday’s episode. He previously faced Laredo Kid on the show, defeating him two weeks ago.

AAA is expected to make further announcements about the Alianzas tour and Triplemania XXXIII at a press conference later today.
