Jeff Hardy now more than three years sober

Jeff Hardy recently reached a big milestone in his sobriety journey.

During an interview on The Ariel Helwani Show that was taped on June 24 and aired this week, Hardy said he is now more than three years sober. He entered alcohol treatment in June 2022 following a DUI in Florida where his blood alcohol limit was found to be more then three times the limit.

“Three years [and] two days, man,” Hardy responded when Helwani asked how long he has been sober.

The 2022 offense was Hardy’s third DUI. The case was ultimately resolved in February 2023 with Hardy pleading no contest. His license was suspended for 10 years, but he did not have to serve jail time.

Hardy said the third DUI was the rock bottom in his life. Now that he’s sober, he is able to appreciate life more and find the beauty in things. That clarity started to come once he reached one year sober.

“Oh yeah, everything is majestic,” he said. “After about a year of being sober — oh my God, everything is just so vivid and bright and beautiful.”

Matt Hardy expressed how proud he is of the effort his brother has put in toward bettering himself.

“His work on himself has been second-to-none,” Matt said. “And just the place he’s at in his life, I’m just so proud and so happy for him. This is like the best version of Jeff Hardy personally I’ve ever seen that exists right now.”

The 2022 DUI happened while The Hardy Boyz were with AEW, disrupting plans the promotion had for them. After departing AEW in 2024, Matt & Jeff are now both with TNA Wrestling. They will challenge for the TNA Tag Team titles in a four-way ladder match later this month at Slammiversary.

When asked if they would be okay with ending their careers in TNA, Matt Hardy told Helwani that he and Jeff would like to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame and have “one last hurrah” with WWE — but that could potentially happen without The Hardys leaving TNA because of the working relationship that exists between the two companies.
