Former Impact World Champion Sami Callihan suffered a broken ankle at Saturday’s TV tapings and will be out until the spring of 2022 after having surgery.
The news was first reported by our Dave Meltzer on Twitter. No other details were given as to how the injury was suffered.
Callihan was last seen teaming with Eddie Edwards at the pre-taped Victory Road show that aired on Impact Plus Saturday night. Neither man took part in the Friday night tapings and have been feuding with both Moose and W. Morrissey in recent weeks.
The 34-year-old has been a fixture in Impact since 2017 and won their World title in 2019. He was also set to reunite with former Switchblades partner Jon Moxley at an October Pro Wrestling Revolver show against Davey Richards and Eddie Edwards.
The following are spoilers for future episodes of Impact:
This weekend’s triple dip of TV tapings saw both some returns and debuts in Christoper Daniels, Alex Zayne and Heath Slater.
Daniels, a former Impact fixture, came out to help World Champion Christian Cage and X-Division Champion Josh Alexander as they were getting jumped by Ace Austin and Madman Fulton at the end of Friday’s tapings.
Zayne was part of the TV tapings as first reported by Fightful, but no details were available as to what he did. He also returned to Ring of Honor after being released by WWE NXT this summer.
Slater returned after a long absence due to injury, reuniting with friend and former partner Rhino as the latter is now out of the Violent by Design faction.
