Impact Wrestling ratings drop against night one of NFL draft

Against competition from the NFL draft, ratings for Impact Wrestling were unsurprisingly down this week.

Thursday’s episode averaged 308,000 viewers on Pop TV, the lowest number since Impact faced competition from a WWE special on the greatest moments in WrestleMania history at the beginning of this month. That show aired on April 5th and did 294,000 viewers.

This week’s number was down from 373,000 viewers last Thursday and 381,000 the week before that.

Fallout from Redemption and Pentagon Jr.’s World title win was the theme of this week’s Impact. It also featured Knockouts and Tag Team title defenses, with Allie defeating Taya Valkyrie and Eli Drake & Scott Steiner beating LAX.

The episode did a 0.7 rating in the 18-49 demo, which was also the lowest mark since April 5th.

There was year-to-year improvement, as Impact averaged 255,000 viewers when going against the NFL draft and similar sports competition from the NBA and NHL playoffs during this week last year. The total audience for the first night of this year’s draft was up 22 percent from 2017 due to Fox adding coverage of it.
