Impact Wrestling live results: Tag Team title match

The Impact Tag Team titles will be on the line Thursday as Violent By Design will defend against Satoshi Kojima and Eddie Edwards.
Kojima earned the shot last week with his singles win over VBD’s Deaner. Deaner and Joe Doering will defend the gold on behalf of VBD, invoking the Freebirds rule where anyone in the faction can defend them.
The show will also feature the fallout from last week’s storyline firing of VP Don Callis and the reinstatement of Sami Callihan ahead of his July challenge of World Champion Kenny Omega.
Knockouts Champion Deonna Purrazzo will take on former stablemate Susan in a non-title match as the champion turned both Susan and Kimber against her last week.
After she and Havok dumped Knockouts Tag Team Champions Fire N’ Flava into a dumpster last week, Rosemary will take on Kiera Hogan.
The show will also feature Shera and Rohit Raju vs. Petey Williams and Trey Miguel while the BTI pre-show will see TJP team with Fallah Bahh against Decay’s Crazzy Steve and Black Taurus.

Opening video covered last week’s angle with Don Callis getting fired from his EVP position and Sami Callihan reinstated.
Show opened with Don Callis and Kenny Omega arriving at the Impact arena, but since Callis is not in the EVP list, he needed to get different credentials to enter. Callis went off on the door guard and eventually made it in.
Rosemary (w/Havok) defeated Kiera Hogan (w/Tasha Steelz)
After losing her match with Deonna Purrazzo, Rosemary and Havok found themselves with some problems against Hogan and Steelz as they argued they were the best tag team in the world. After that altercation, Rosemary got this match with hopes of earning a tag title shot.
Rosemary started the match with dominance, as much as Hogan tried to dodge and run around, Rosemary.
Steelz aided Hogan to cut off Rosemary, and while Havok did come down to back up Rosemary, Hogan had control of the match.
Eventually, Rosemary made a comeback, got a near fall with a reverse DDT. WHen it seemed like Hogan was about to recover and cut Rosemary out again, Rosemary hit as above so below and picked up the win.
Rosemary and Havok are on their way to a tag title shot.
– Gia Miller interviewed Chris Bey about not getting involved in last week’s X Division brawl. Bey said he wasn’t on either side, he was on Bey’s side and he only cared about the championship. Trey Miguel and Petey Williams confronted him and tried to convince Bey to join them against this new group of Ace Austin and Rohit Raju.
– Miller interviewed Tommy Dreamer about last week’s outcome after Anthem decided to fire Don Callis. Scott D’Amore walked up to them and accepted he had indeed allowed Callis to run around and make decisions. Dreamer told D’Amore that the board had asked him to stay as a consultant. D’Amore didn’t seem so excited about that decision.
– D’lo Brown & Josh Matthrews ran down tonight’s card.
Knockouts Champion Deonna Purrazzo defeated Susan in a non-title match
Susan and Kimber Lee have broken away from Deonna Purrazzo from being her lackeys. For months, Susan had been a pain for Purrazzo, so it felt like it was just a matter of time before they exploded.
Purrazzo controlled the match from the start, she outwrestled Susan and dissected her arm as she usually does. Between submissions and slam, she kept Susan on the mat. With so much dominance, Purrazzo eventually got cocky and started torturing Susan, but that’s when Purrazzo lowered her guard and allowed Susan to have a hope spot with a superplex, but right after, Purrazzzo locked in Venus de Milo for the submission win.
After the match, she kept the submission until Kimber Lee had to interfere.
– Over at Swinger’s Palace, TJP and Bahh were playing when Swann and Mack walked up. They all talked about shoes to see who had the best ones and John E. Bravo won. Swann and Mack and TJP and Bahh ended up challenging each other to a tag match as they both seem to be eyeing the tag titles.
Doc Callis approached Dreamer and told him there were no hard feelings, yet he tried to throw some fuel to the fire. Callis tried to get Dreamer to book a Team Dreamer vs Team Callis match.
Rohit Raju & Mahabali Shera defeated Trey Miguel & Petey Williams
Last week, Rohit Raju and Shera made their presence felt as they joined Ace Austin and Fulton to take out Alexander, Williams and Miguel.
This was a basic tag match, Williams and Miguel started the match with the upper hand against Raju, they were able to maintain control by keeping Raju away from Shera. Problems came when Ace Austin and Madman Fulton came out for the distraction, allowing Raju to catch Williams with a knee for the win.
After the match, a brawl broke out with everyone, as Austin and Fulton attacked Williams and Miguel. Josh Alexander came down for the aid, but was also taken out. Chris Bey came out, but never got involved.
– Miller caught Callihan and Dreamer talking backstage, and asked if Callihan would join Dreamer against Omega and the Good Brothers. Callihan accepted as long as he could get in the ring with Omega. Moose also walked up and said he was in too.
– Out in the ring, Rachael Ellering cut a promo saying that she didn’t notice when problems started with Jordynne Grace, but she wanted to make peace and work along with her.
Ellering told Grace that winning the titles with her and Jazz was like a dream come true. She had been on her lowest point before Grace and Jazz saved her, and she thought that’s what she needed to do for Grace.
Grace told her that she didn’t need anyone to help her, she could do anything by herself. Grace and Ellering were close to coming to blows when Jazz came out.
Jazz said that there was a reason she made this team, she saw the potential, and that being the shortest tag champs wasn’t more than a hurdle.
Ellering put some blame on herself, and said that she just wanted to tag with Grace, but when asked, Grace said she wasn’t sure, needed time, and walked away.
After Grace was gone, Tenille Dashwood, the one who initially broke up Grace and Ellering, came out. She once again tried to get Ellering to join her.
Ellering rejected her once again and challenged her to a match. Dashwood and Kaleb tried to attack them, but Ellering and Jazz cleared the ring. Great performances by everyone involved.
Sam Beale (w/Brian Myers)
Myers has been training Beale for some weeks now, both inside and outside the ring. This is Beale’s first big match since such training started. In addition, Jake Something and Myers have started a rivalry, ever since Against All Odds.
Myers quickly got involved and gave Beale some advantage, but once in the ring, Something regained it. Myers tried to help Beale cheat, but Something blocked him, took out Beale, and got the win.
After the match, he excused Beale, saying that Beale lost because Something is not a professional.
– Backstage, Rich Swann and Willie Mack told Eddie Edwards and Satoshi Kojima to do well out there. Edwards told them that once they win, they can get the first shot.
– Brown and Matthews announced TJP and Bahh vs Mack & Swann next week, Team Dreamer vs Team Callis, and Chris Bey vs Petey Williams.
Impact Tag Team Champions Violent By Design (Deaner & Joe Doering) (w/Eric Young & Rhino) defeated Satoshi Kojima & Eddie Edwards to retain the titles
Edwards and Kojima and Violent by Design have been feuding for a while. Kojima has been targeting each member one by one, losing to Doering at Against All Odds, but getting the win over Rhino, earning this title shot.
Kojima and Edwards started with the upper hand against Deaner, but once Doering got in the ring, he cut off Kojima and turned the match around.
After some minutes of heat, Edwards got the hot tag and along with Kojima, managed to take down Doering off his feet, but it wasn’t long before Doering regained control of the match, this time around on Edwards.
Kojima got the hot tag. He and Edwards did the Machine Gun chops on both VBD guys, ending with a Kojima elbow drop on Deaner for a near fall. Edwards went for the backpack stunner, but was cut off by Doering, who hit a DVD. Doering took down both Edwards and Kojima with double lariats, but Edwards recovered when Kojima hit a lariat, but Doering wasn’t fazed, hit a powerbomb on Edwards, and retained the title.
