Impact notes: Two title changes at TV tapings, another departure

Two titles changed hands at last night’s Impact television tapings in Orlando, Florida.

Matt Sydal, who already holds the promotion’s Grand Championship, defeated Taiji Ishimori to win the X Division title in a match where both belts were on the line. The rounds and judges concept for the Grand Championship was dropped at the first night of this week’s tapings.

In the night’s other title change, Allie defeated Laurel Van Ness to win the Knockouts Championship. The two were involved in a segment earlier in the show where KM said he was an ordained minister and was going to marry Van Ness to the Knockouts title. Braxton Sutter interrupted and said he made a mistake by choosing Allie over Van Ness. She rejected him, then Allie came out and stood tall over Van Ness.

Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Van Ness is currently scheduled to finish up with Impact Wrestling at this set of television tapings. Meltzer wrote that she gave her notice at the tapings in Ottawa after she won the title, but the company wouldn’t release her from her contract until she came back and was written off TV.

Chris Adonis also announced on Twitter today that he’s no longer with the company: “I have to announce my departure from Impact Wrestling. Thank you to @sonjaydutterson @EdNordholm & @ScottDAmore.”
