Impact notes: Two new Thursday matches, Acey Romero released

Impact announced two new matches for this Thursday’s AXS show, one of which will determine the final entrant into the three-way at Bound for Glory for the vacant X-Division title.
The final three-way will be Willie Mack vs. Rohit Raju vs. El Phantasmo. Both Mack and Raju are former X-Division champions while Phantasmo is looking for his first run with Impact gold.
The winner will take on Steve Maclin and Trey Miguel at the Saturday, October 23rd pay-per-view.
Rich Swann vs. VSK has also been added to Thursday’s lineup. Swann and Mack defeated Brian Myers and VSK recently, but were jumped by them and Sam Beale last week.
Chris Bey vs. Chris Sabin and a 20-man battle royal with the winner earning the no. 20 slot and the final eliminated participant earning the no. 1 slot in the Call Your Shot gauntlet match at Bound for Glory are also set for Thursday.

Acey Romero is no longer under contract with Impact Wrestling, first reported by Jon Alba.
The Maine native hasn’t appeared with the promotion since May’s Under Siege following him getting COVID-19. Fightful had reported that Romero had requested his full release due to not being used. His last match was in a four-way Tag Team title eliminator match with XXXL teammate Larry D.
He had been with Impact in some form since 2019.
