Impact notes: Two advance in X-Division title tournament, Kingdom gets fired

Following Thursday’s Impact, the first two semifinalists are set in the tournament to crown a new Impact X-Division Champion.

Trey Miguel defeated the returning Alan Angels on the main show (seen above) while Black Taurus downed Laredo Kid on the BTI pre-show.

Miguel will now await the winner of this Thursday’s match between former champion “Speedball” Mike Bailey and Kenny King while Taurus will face the winner of the returning PJ Black and Yuya Uemura, set for the BTI pre-show.

The finals are set for next month’s Over Drive. The title was relinquished by Frankie Kazarian in exchange for a World title shot against Josh Alexander at Over Drive.

Now part of AEW, The Kingdom were officially written off at the start of Thursday’s show.

In a backstage segment, Matt Taven & Mike Bennett were complaining to Scott D’Amore about their treatment in the wake of losing the Tag Team titles to Heath & Rhino and getting taken out by PCO afterward.

D’Amore listened to their concerns and said he would ensure it didn’t happen again, firing them.

Taven, Bennett and Maria Kanellis-Bennett recently signed with AEW after debuting on the recent Toronto Rampage. Taven will challenge TNT Champion Wardlow on Friday’s live Rampage.
