Brian Myers to challenge for Impact World title at Emergence

Brian Myers won a 20-man battle royal on Thursday to earn himself a World title shot at the upcoming Emergence special event on Impact Plus.

He will face the winner of Friday’s Kenny Omega vs. Christian Cage Impact title match on AEW Rampage.

The final four people in the battle royal were Sami Callihan, Moose, Chris Sabin and Myers himself. Callihan had eliminated Ace Austin right before he was dumped over the top rope by Moose. Sabin then applied a sleeperhold to Moose and Myers took advantage, throwing both guys out.

This will be Myers’ second shot at the Impact title as he unsuccessfully challenged then-champion Eddie Edwards when he made his return to the company last July.

The taped Friday, August 20th show will also see Josh Alexander defend the X-Division title against top contender Jake Something and Tag Team Champions The Good Brothers defending against both Violent by Design and Willie Mack & Rich Swann in a three-way.
