Southern California wrestler Cincinnati Red passes away from heart attack
Gregory Daves, a longtime Southern California independent wrestler who used the name Cincinnati Red, passed away yesterday of a heart attack in Victorville, CA, at the age of 40.
Daves started wrestling in 1993 and headlined smaller promotion shows in Southern California for years.
He was Samoa Joe’s original trainer and also helped start wrestlers Tom Howard, a former star in Japan, and Mikey Henderson, who was a guy who showed a lot of promise during that same period as a regular opponent of Christopher Daniels.
Joe wrote on Twitter, “Beyond destroyed right now. RIP Big Hardcore Cincinnati Red. My trainer, my mentor, my friend.”
