- On the 17th anniversary of her father (Michael Angel Trinidad) passing away in the 9/11 terror attacks, WWE posted a video with Zelina Vega (Thea Trinidad) being interviewed by Renee Young. Vega reflected on her memories of her father and that day. She also discussed how her father was a fan of professional wrestling and The Rock, how they bonded over wrestling, and her telling The Rock about him.
- Vega wrote about her father: “Even 17 years later it’s still hard to breathe when they get close to reading his name at the #911Memorial ceremony but today and everyday I celebrate and represent for you Daddy. I’m on my way to Cajundome for #SDLive and live our dream. Thank you all for the luv #TRANQUILO”
- Vega is also the guest on this week’s episode of Chasing Glory with Lilian Garcia.
- SmackDown’s go-home show for Hell in a Cell is taking place in Lafayette, Louisiana tonight. Brie Bella vs. Maryse (the main event of the show), Cesaro & Sheamus vs. Rusev & Aiden English (winning team challenges for The New Day’s Tag Team titles on Sunday), SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair vs. Sonya Deville in a non-title match, R-Truth vs. Andrade “Cien” Almas, and Jeff Hardy vs. United States Champion Shinsuke Nakamura in a non-title match are scheduled.

Pro Wrestling
- Revolution Pro Wrestling announced that Global Wars UK will only be a one-night event this year, with the show being held at the Brixton Recreation Centre on October 14. Minoru Suzuki will defend his Undisputed British Heavyweight Championship against Tomohiro Ishii, and KUSHIDA will challenge for David Starr’s Cruiserweight title.
- RIngside seats for the NWA’s 70th Anniversary Show are being priced at $70, with general admission tickets costing $19.48 (the year the NWA was founded). Tickets go on sale at 9 a.m. Central time this Friday. The show will take place in Nashville, Tennessee on October 21, and it’s being headlined by Cody Rhodes and Nick Aldis’ rematch for the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship.
- Eddie Edwards and Mark Poulton are publishing a children’s book on Edwards’ life next month.
UFC/MMA
- USADA announced today that Fabricio Werdum has been suspended for two years following a failed drug test that was taken on April 25. Werdum failed for an anabolic steroid (trenbolone) and its metabolite (epitrenbolone) and won’t be eligible to return until May 22, 2020.
- Kazushi Sakuraba will face Urijah Faber in a grappling match at Quintet 3 next month. The show is being held in Las Vegas on October 5, the night before Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Conor McGregor at UFC 229.
- Josh Barnett said he’ll fight in MMA next year and it’s just a matter of where and when.
