With WWE having an annual pay-per-view built around multiple Hell in a Cell matches, it’s only natural that they mostly just become standard matches that are surrounded by a roofed cage. But that wasn’t the case at this year’s PPV. Sunday night’s show was bookended by two great Hell in a Cell matches where the structure was essential in telling the story that was going on in the ring.

In what was the most significant, and closest Monday night ratings race so far this year, a heavily criticized edition of Nitro on 9/11 scored the highest rating for the show in its regular opposed format since 1/10 and the closest margin between the two shows since 12/20. Nitro finished with a 3.20 rating (3.47 first hour; 2.93 second hour) and a 4.8 share. Raw did a 5.90 rating (5.36 first hour; 6.38 second hour) and an 8.9 share.

  • Austin Aries posted a tweet today claiming that he’s going to make more money in his first six weeks back on the indies than he did in his last four months in WWE: “Upcoming 6 weeks of ‘bingo hall’ $ >> Last 4 months of ‘big league’ $. Awesome to see the #prowrestling scene thriving around the [world].”
  • In his interview with the AV Club, Joe Koff said that an ROH streaming service is in development and that they’re hoping it will debut on the first of next year or a little after that. Koff also spoke about ROH and NJPW having a mutually beneficial relationship, wondering if the press in Japan similarly asks if they’re why NJPW is so great because of all the ROH wrestlers succeeding in the promotion.
  • Mark Briscoe thanked everyone for their thoughts and prayers after he dislocated his elbow at last night’s Global Wars show in Pittsburgh.
  • The Bullet Club has been invoking the “Bullet Club rule” on ROH’s Global Wars tour, which means that any combination of members from the stable can defend The Young Bucks & Hangman Page’s six-man tag titles. The Bucks & Kenny Omega defended them against The Kingdom in Buffalo on Thursday night, then Will Ospreay, Toru Yano & YOSHI-HASHI challenged Omega, Cody & Marty Scurll for them in Pittsburgh last night.
  • Despite tough competition from the MLB playoffs and Thursday Night Football, ratings for Impact were up this week. The show averaged 279,000 viewers after doing 251,000 the week prior.
  • Kazuchika Okada is coming to Australia to wrestle for Melbourne City Wrestling at their “November Rain” show in Essendon on November 11th. He’ll be wrestling Slex at the show.
  • Cultaholic, which is Adam Blampied, Adam Pacitti, Ross Tweddell, Jack King, and Sam Driver’s newest venture after leaving What Culture, put out a video hyping that they’ll be launching on November 1st.
