WWE
- WWE stock was up nearly 10 percent today. It closed at $73.20 per share, with the market being up five percent on the day.
- After time off for Christmas, WWE is back on the road with a Raw house show at Madison Square Garden in New York City and a SmackDown house show at the Allstate Arena in the Chicago area tonight. The event as MSG will feature the return of John Cena and a 10-man NXT tag match (Aleister Black, Ricochet, Pete Dunne, Velveteen Dream & Matt Riddle vs. Tommaso Ciampa & The Undisputed Era)
- WWE uploaded Xavier’s Arcade Challenge and Fashion Files: Cold Case Unit to their YouTube account. Those are 13-minute episodes of new WWE Network shows that debuted this week.
- Sarah Logan reflected on her and Rowe’s wedding: “Here’s to us. To everyone that showed up at our wedding as Vikings. To our families who became one. To the Gods for making sure we had food and good weather. And to my husband for giving me the world. I love all of you.”
- WWE announced “Doomsday” by The Architects and “Fight Fire with Fire” by The Prodigy as official theme songs for NXT UK TakeOver: Blackpool.
Pro Wrestling
- John Cena posted a picture of EVOLVE Champion Austin Theory on his Instagram account today after Theory had mentioned him in a promo. Theory responded by posting a picture of Cena.
- Tom Lawlor will face Ken Shamrock at Ultimate Bar Brawl in Atlanta on January 31. Penelope Ford vs. ODB is also set.
- Fenix has been added to 2019’s wXw 16 Carat Gold tournament.
- TNT Extreme Wrestling announced a four-way World title match between PAC, Ilja Dragunov, Mark Haskins, and David Starr for their Merseyside Massacre show in Liverpool on February 31.
- MLW announced that Teddy Hart has signed a contract with them. Hart won the MLW Middleweight Championship at this month’s MLW Fusion Live special.
- Jim Cornette is the guest on today’s episode of Talk is Jericho.
- There will be a Bullet Club Block Party with Tama Tonga, the Bullet Club, and Jimmy’s Seafood in New Jersey on April 7, which is the day of WrestleMania. Further details will be announced on January 2.
UFC/MMA
- Episode three of Embedded for Saturday’s UFC 232 PPV includes video of Dana White, Jeff Novitzky & Hunter Campbell meeting with Alexander Gustafsson and his team about the Jon Jones drug test abnormality situation. White claimed they had “every expert on f*cking earth” saying that Jones didn’t do anything wrong. He said if Gustafsson had any doubts in his mind, they could cancel Jones vs. Gustafsson and move it to March. Gustafsson and his team said they were fine with it going on at UFC 232.
- White, Jones, Gustafsson, Cris Cyborg, and Amanda Nunes will take part in tomorrow’s UFC 232 press conference at 2 p.m. Pacific time.
- Due to the location being changed on short notice, the window for fighters to weigh in for UFC 232 has been extended from two hours to three hours. The weigh-ins will take place from 9 a.m. Pacific time to noon Pacific on Friday.
- Dana White said Kamaru Usman will fight for the welterweight title at UFC 235 on March 2. If welterweight champion Tyron Woodley can’t return in time, Usman will face someone else for the title.
- Woodley tweeted about wanting to face Colby Covington: “I asked my boss for one thing for Christmas! Didn’t see the bout agreement under my tree @ColbyCovMMA must have bitched out again! @ufc”
- Cody Garbrandt is targeting UFC 235 as his return date and is pushing to face Pedro Munhoz.
