SATURDAY NEWS UPDATE

WWE
- Roman Reigns spoke to Bleacher Report about traveling to Saudi Arabia:
I don’t miss travel, man. I don’t miss being on planes. I don’t miss being in the air. The ThunderDome was nice because it was in Orlando for a bit and Tampa, so I would literally get picked up on the bus, head up there, three-and-a-half-hour drive to both, do my stuff and get back on the bus and get back home that night. That process created a silver lining and also being home with my family and my children and my wife. There’s no replacing that. I do not miss travel.
Saudi Arabia is the only place I’ve left the country for, and that’s just because it’s such an isolated one-off, in and out on a private jet, 16 hours, knock out the show, back on the jet, 16 hours, all by myself. We go through extreme precautions to make it all safe for me and to make me feel comfortable.
- In an interview with the New York Post, Sasha Banks said she’s inspired by the new version of Becky Lynch:
It’s completely so inspiring. To see her come back looking better than she’s ever looked. And to put out a baby and have a six pack, you know she’s coming for everybody’s throat. It just really makes me want to step up my game because I have no idea what it takes to be a mother on the road. They all inspire me so much that they can just do all of this.
To be a WWE superstar alone is hard, but to be a woman in the game, but to be a brand new mother, wow, she’s on a whole different level, a whole different fire is in her eyes because she’s not just fighting for herself. She’s fighting for her daughter. Her hunger is just up there. I can’t wait to fight this new Becky Lynch.
- Banks was also asked how Bayley has handled her time away from the ring due to a torn ACL: “When I speak to Bayley it’s so hard and frustrating because, man, she got hurt a week before we were going back to the fans. So she’s already telling me she hasn’t wrestled in front of fans for almost two years. Can you imagine that? Can you imagine that feeling? And after someone like her who has absolutely killed the game, is on top of her game right now, just to get taken out like that is so hard to see. Everything happens for a reason. I know she’s gonna come back better than ever. Her mind is more focused than ever and I just can’t wait for her to return.”
- John Cena’s “Peacemaker” series will premiere on HBO Max on Thursday, January 13, 2022. The official teaser trailer for the series was released today as part of DC Fandome.
- Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson also revealed a first look teaser trailer for his “Black Adam” film. The movie will premiere on Friday, July 29, 2022.
- WWE has filed a trademark for “Duke’s Poker Room.” WWE Shop has also released a Duke’s Poker Room T-shirt for NXT’s Duke Hudson.
- NXT UK’s Sha Samuels and his significant other welcomed the birth of their daughter Skylar yesterday: “Oi Oi Welcome to the world Skylar. Both mother and child doing well, so proud of them”
- This week’s Talking Smack featured interviews with Seth Rollins, Zelina Vega, and Sonya Deville.
- WWE’s YouTube channel uploaded John Cena & Trish Stratus vs. Santino Marella & Beth Phoenix from the December 22, 2008 episode of Raw, Rey Mysterio vs. Batista from the October 16, 2009 episode of SmackDown, and Cesaro vs. Samoa Joe in a King of the Ring first-round match from the August 19, 2019 episode of Raw.

- Matt Jackson told Sports Illustrated about how it feels to be able to work with Adam Cole again: “I can’t fully express the happiness I currently have, sharing a ring with Adam Cole again. His positivity and energy had really helped the morale in our locker room. I haven’t stopped smiling since he showed up. When he arrived, it felt like we finally found that missing piece of the puzzle. The whole gang is finally back together. We hadn’t worked together in five years, but the chemistry was still there. The dude is a star and getting some of the biggest reactions I’ve ever heard.”
