SATURDAY NEWS UPDATE

WWE

  • The Miz & John Morrison were originally listed in the night two draft pool but were selected by Raw in the WWE Draft last night. Elias was moved from the night one draft pool to night two. After returning to WWE TV on SmackDown last night, Lars Sullivan will be eligible to be picked in the night two draft pool on Monday.
  • In storyline, Mickie James, Gran Metalik & Lince Dorado, and Shorty G are currently free agents after not being picked from the night one draft pool.
  • WWE streamed a new edition of Watch Along during night one of the draft last night. There will be another Watch Along streaming on YouTube, Twitter, and Facebook during night two of the draft on Monday.
  • Tegan Nox made an appearance on Watch Along and discussed her recovery after undergoing surgery for a torn ACL. Nox said she’s doing great and way ahead in her rehab.
  • It was announced on 205 Live last night that The Singh Brothers will be returning to WWE TV on 205 Live soon. They’ll be using their old Bollywood Boyz name.
  • Adam Pearce tweeted about 205 Live reaching 200 episodes: “Congrats to @WWE205Live on 200 episodes. I’m grateful to every single soul that has put their passion in it and fingerprints on it along the way.”
  • During an appearance on the Wilde On podcast with Taylor Wilde, Samoa Joe said he’s not done in the ring despite being part of the Raw commentary team: “As of right now I’m enjoying commentary on Raw. It’s been a fun challenge. It’s something very very new, and I’m enjoying that. Obviously I’m not done in the ring by no means. I think right now I’m just kinda exploring things and seeing how I feel about things. And aside from that, doing a lot of voice acting lately, it’s kinda fun and cool…I’m very very fortunate, and I’m very very happy that I’m doing the things that I’m doing right now.”
  • Comicbook.com and Daily DDT interviewed Ember Moon about her return to NXT.
  • Kevin Owens told Bleacher Report that there were plans for him to go back to NXT last year that ended up not happening: “Last year at some point, I was going back to NXT. It was all in motion and it was going to happen, and then it didn’t. To say that’s a thought that crossed my mind would be an understatement, but I would tell you right now that that’s not the case anymore. That’s just not where I’m at anymore. Now, I want to be on Raw or be on SmackDown and just fight like hell to create some memorable moments for everybody. That’s all I want at this point.”
  • On what would have been Eddie Guerrero’s 53rd birthday, Randy Orton paid tribute to Guerrero yesterday: “I knew eddie for a couple years. I was so young and knew that I shouldnt approach him but had the unimaginable job of wrestling in the main event on TV, so I had to. There has always been attitudes egos or whatever backstage, that will never change. But when I met eddie I forgot everything that I was supposed to know about the wrestling business. Here was this top talent, that cared enough to give me the time of day. When I thought that a simple word would bother him, or he would tell me to F off, I quickly realized that I was dead wrong and that he gaf. He saw a young newcomer to the biz who was excited to work with him and he took the time to make me feel comfortable. I take that with me these days, the understanding that the new guys aren’t anything more then exactly how I USED to be. He made me feel welcome. He made me feel important. I will forever miss him, and can say without a doubt that he was one of the greatest to ever lace up a pair of boots. RIP #eddieguerrero”

  • WWE’s YouTube channel uploaded Aleister Black vs. Johnny Gargano in a steel cage match from the December 19, 2018 episode of NXT, The New Day vs. The Dudley Boyz for the WWE Tag Team titles from Hell in a Cell 2015, and the 20-woman battle royal from Evolution.

  • Josh Barnett spoke to Wrestling inc about why he isn’t facing Jon Moxley at Bloodsport tomorrow night: “Well, I have some other prior commitments, so I’m not able to actively participate in this one as a wrestler, even though, I will be there as a producer and booker, but Bloodsport isn’t just about getting in the ring. It’s about the nature of the event itself. The design behind it, and I’m really happy to be able to have Moxley there against someone like Chris Dickinson. And I think they’re going to make for a hell of a main event, and we’re going to continue on that legacy that we’ve been establishing since our very first event.”
  • Today is AEW president and CEO Tony Khan’s 38th birthday. Cody posted a tweet wishing him a happy birthday: “HAPPY BIRTHDAY @TonyKhan – one of the most thoughtful, generous, cultivated men I’ve had the pleasure of working with. He’s a prime example of what leadership should look like in this era. Enjoy your day!”
